About Geckistry

What is Geckistry?
Geckistry is a Texas-based crested gecko and Leachianus gecko breeding and genetics research program dedicated to producing top-quality geckos. We specialize in tracking morph traits, conformation, and lineage to ensure every gecko is healthy, ethically bred, and visually striking. We also offer high-quality feeders and supplies for reptile keepers.
What makes your breeding program different?
Geckistry is driven by purpose. Each pairing is planned with structure, genetics, and lineage in mind — not just aesthetics. We follow the Gold Standard Gecko Club's conformation guidelines and keep detailed phenotype logs. Our breeding program is science-backed and heart-led, with a focus on producing healthy, well-structured animals with clear lineage.
How do you track gecko genetics?
Geckistry uses a custom allele tracking system based on known inheritance patterns. Each gecko's genotype is documented and tied to visual phenotypes, helping inform future pairings and educate others on morph identification. We track traits like Pinstripe, Harlequin, Phantom, Tricolor, and more.

Ordering & Payment

How do I purchase a gecko or products?
Browse our available geckos and products on the site. Add items to your cart and proceed to checkout. We accept major credit cards and debit cards through our secure payment processor (Stripe). For geckos, we'll confirm safe shipping weather before processing the payment hold.
Do I need to create an account to order?
No, you can check out as a guest. However, creating an account allows you to track orders, save addresses, view order history, and receive order updates. You can create an account during checkout or after your first purchase.
When will my card be charged?
For products and supplies, payment is processed immediately at checkout. For live animals, we place a temporary hold on your card and only charge it once we confirm safe shipping weather and create the shipping label (usually 1-3 days before ship date).
Do you offer payment plans or financing?
Currently, we require payment in full at time of order. All prices are in U.S. Dollars.

Shipping & Delivery

How are live animals shipped?
Live geckos are shipped via FedEx Priority Overnight to a FedEx hub location near you for pickup. This is required for animal safety. We do NOT ship to residential addresses. Animals are shipped Monday through Wednesday only to avoid weekend delays, and only when weather is safe (temperatures between 40-85°F at origin and destination).
Why can't you ship to my home address?
FedEx hub pickup ensures your gecko doesn't sit on a delivery truck all day in potentially unsafe temperatures. It also guarantees you can pick up your animal within 2 hours of arrival notification, which is critical for the live arrival guarantee. This method has proven to be the safest for live animal shipping.
What is the live arrival guarantee?
We guarantee live arrival when: (1) you pick up at the FedEx hub within 2 hours of delivery notification, (2) you immediately notify us with photo/video evidence of any issues, (3) weather was safe at time of shipment, and (4) the shipment was not refused or abandoned. If these conditions are met and the gecko arrives deceased (DOA), we offer a replacement of equal value or full refund at our discretion.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We closely monitor weather forecasts at both origin and destination. If temperatures are forecast to be outside the safe range (40-85°F), we will delay the shipment until conditions improve. You'll be notified immediately of any weather holds. Your safety and your gecko's safety are our top priorities.
How are products shipped?
Products like feeders, cultures, and supplies are shipped via USPS, UPS, or FedEx ground to your residential address. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on weight, dimensions, and destination.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently, we only ship within the United States. International shipping of live animals requires specialized permits and is not available at this time.
Can I track my order?
Yes! After your order ships, you'll receive a tracking number via email. You can also track orders by visiting the Track Order page and entering your order number and email address.

Geckos & Care

Do you sell to first-time gecko owners?
Absolutely! We welcome new gecko keepers and provide guidance every step of the way. We offer care guides, setup recommendations, and post-sale support so you feel confident from day one. Crested geckos and Leachianus geckos make excellent pets for beginners.
What morphs do you specialize in?
We work with a variety of morphs including Flame, Harlequin, Phantom, Tricolor, Dalmatian, Pinstripe, and more — each tracked using allele-based notation. Our focus is on creating well-structured animals with clear lineage and predictable genetic outcomes.
Can I see photos of the parents?
Yes! Every gecko listing includes lineage information when known. Click on the gecko's profile to view sire (father) and dam (mother) information, complete with photos, traits, and previous offspring when available.
Do you offer care sheets or setup advice?
Absolutely. Whether it's enclosure size, humidity levels, feeding schedules, or bioactive setups, we provide care guides and personalized support for new keepers. Check our resources or reach out with specific questions.
How old are the geckos you sell?
We typically sell geckos once they're established eaters and have reached a safe shipping weight (usually 8+ grams for crested geckos). This is typically 2-4 months old. Exact age and weight are listed on each gecko's profile.
Do you offer post-sale support?
Yes! Buying a gecko from Geckistry means joining a supportive community. We're here long after the sale for husbandry help, dietary advice, or just to admire photos. Our goal is to ensure every gecko thrives in its new home.
Can I visit your facility in person?
We're located in Texas and offer local pickup for customers in the area. For biosecurity reasons, facility tours are limited, but local pickup allows you to meet your gecko in person. Contact us to arrange local pickup.

Returns & Refunds

Can I return a gecko?
Due to the living nature of our products, we do not accept returns on live animals except as outlined in our Live Arrival Guarantee. All gecko sales are final once the animal is in your possession and confirmed healthy. Please review our Terms of Service for complete details.
What if I receive the wrong product?
If you receive an incorrect item or a damaged product, please contact us immediately with photos. We'll arrange for a replacement or refund as appropriate. Our goal is to make things right.
Can I return products and supplies?
Non-living products (supplies, equipment) may be returned within 14 days of delivery if unopened and in original condition. You're responsible for return shipping costs. Live cultures and feeders are non-returnable once received. Refunds are issued to the original payment method minus original shipping costs.
What if my gecko arrives deceased (DOA)?
While extremely rare with our shipping methods, if your gecko arrives deceased and you met all the Live Arrival Guarantee conditions (hub pickup within 2 hours, immediate notification with photo/video evidence), we will offer a replacement of equal value or full refund. Claims must be made within 2 hours of pickup.

Products & Feeders

What products do you sell?
In addition to geckos, we offer high-quality feeders (isopods, roaches), feeder cultures, supplements, and reptile keeping supplies. All products are carefully selected to ensure they meet our quality standards.
What are product variants?
Some products (like isopods and feeder insects) are available in different quantities or sizes at different price points. For example, you might see isopods offered in 10-count, 25-count, or 50-count options. Select the variant that best fits your needs from the dropdown menu.
How do I know if an item is in stock?
In-stock items show an 'Add to Cart' button. Out-of-stock items will be clearly marked. We update inventory in real-time, so if you can add it to your cart, it's available.
Do you offer wholesale pricing?
We work with select retailers and breeders on a case-by-case basis. If you're interested in wholesale pricing or bulk orders, please contact us to discuss your needs.

Account & Privacy

How do I track my orders?
If you have an account, log in and visit the 'My Orders' page to see all your order history and tracking information. You can also track orders without an account by visiting the Track Order page and entering your order number and email.
Can I save my shipping address?
Yes! Create an account and you can save multiple addresses for faster checkout. This is especially helpful for repeat customers.
How is my personal information protected?
We take your privacy seriously. All payment information is processed securely through Stripe (we never see your full credit card number). Your personal data is encrypted and stored securely. Please review our Privacy Policy for complete details.
Can I change or cancel my order?
For products, please contact us immediately if you need to change or cancel your order. If the order hasn't shipped yet, we can usually accommodate changes. For gecko orders, cancellations are possible before the shipping hold is processed. Once an animal has shipped, the sale is final per our Terms of Service.

Breeding & Genetics

Do you offer waitlists or reservations?
Yes, we maintain a waitlist for in-demand morphs and upcoming pairings. If you're looking for something specific — like a red harlequin or tricolor from a specific pairing — reach out and we'll add you to the list!
Is Geckistry open to collaborations or trades?
On a case-by-case basis, yes. We're open to working with other breeders who prioritize ethics, traceability, and education. Feel free to reach out with your project goals.
Do you guarantee breeding outcomes?
We cannot guarantee future offspring production, breeding success, or exact color development as animals mature. Crested and Leachianus geckos can change significantly in appearance as they grow. We also cannot guarantee hidden genetic traits that may affect offspring. Please review our Terms of Service for complete breeding disclaimers.
How accurate is gender identification?
For geckos under 3 months old, gender identification is an educated guess and not guaranteed. For older geckos (4+ months), we can sex with much higher accuracy. If gender is critical to your purchase, please ask about the specific gecko's age and confidence level.
